Worshippers will have the unique experience of praying underwater.
Dubai has unveiled plans for a magnificent underwater floating mosque, estimated at a staggering Dh55 million.
According to conceptual illustrations shared with Khaleej Times, one portion of the structure, replete with seating areas and a coffee shop, will gracefully rest above the water's surface, while the other section will be submerged beneath it.
This groundbreaking architectural wonder, the first of its kind globally, will boast a three-story design. An underwater deck will serve as the prayer area, offering a remarkable opportunity for 50 to 75 worshippers to engage in their devotions beneath the water's surface.
Additionally, this submerged level will provide ablution facilities and washrooms, ensuring the utmost convenience for visitors.
These ambitious mosque plans were unveiled during a briefing on the religious tourism project organized by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) in Dubai.
Ahmed Al Mansoori, representing the IACAD, informed Khaleej Times that construction is set to commence "in the near future."
While the exact location of the mosque remains undisclosed, Al Mansoori revealed that it will be situated in close proximity to the shoreline, with a bridge connecting it to the mainland. This accessibility will offer ease of access to worshippers and visitors alike.
Al Mansoori emphasized that the mosque will be welcoming to people of all faiths, but modest attire and adherence to Islamic customs will be expected from all visitors.
