The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is no stranger to breaking global records, and here's the latest: According to a new research, it was declared the world's most popular monument based on the number of visits it receives each year.

According to statistics published by analytics company Switch on Business, the world's highest skyscraper attracts a remarkable 17 million visitors each year. The platform examined search volumes and average visitor counts for over 150 of the world's most well-known locations to determine which are drawing the most worldwide interest.

The beautiful structure, which stands 828 meters (about 2716.54 ft) tall - three times the height of Paris' famed Eiffel structure - attracts roughly 22 million Google searches and 17 million visitors every year, "earning around $621 million in ticket revenue," according to the report.

The Taj Mahal in India came in second, with 22 million searches and 7.5 million tourists every year. This is followed by Niagara Falls, which is visited by over 13 million people each year and receives over 1.2 million searches.

According to experts, the Burj Khalifa is a must-see for visitors to Dubai.

"Most tourist cities have a landmark that visitors go to see and experience. And the Burj Khalifa takes the lead in Dubai," said Mir Wasim Raja, MICE and vacations manager at Galadari Brothers International Travel Services.

"A visitor to Burj Khalifa can experience multiple things, like reaching nearly 800 metres in just less than 60 seconds, seeing the magnificent city from above, and much more," Raja went on to say.

Visitors to the world-famous landmark should keep in mind the optimal time to see the city from the top.

"Its enormous height, architectural excellence, and breathtaking views make it an enticing tourist attraction." Summer peak hours are from 4pm to 7pm, while winter hours are from 3pm to 6pm. Peak periods are preferred because of the day, sunset, and night views," said Ranju Abraham, sales manager at Tours on Board.

According to the Burj Khalifa's official website, the sky view observatory ticket price per person ranges from Dh80 to more than Dh750.

According to the report, the number of visitors worldwide would reach 917 million in 2022 as people return to travel following the epidemic.
